The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of Mr. Ozor Chido, who was abducted by unidentified gunmen four days earlier in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the lifeless body of Mr. Chido was discovered in the early hours of Monday near his piggery—tragically, the same spot where he was kidnapped on June 19.

Ikenga noted that police officers had swiftly launched a rescue operation as soon as the incident was reported. Despite their efforts, however, the mission ended in sorrow as the victim could not be saved.

“The operatives were still actively involved to rescue the victim but unfortunately, his lifeless body was discovered on 23rd June, 2025, near his farm in Nimo,” Ikenga stated.

He continued, “The Command sympathises with the victim’s family and the community and assures that it shall leave no stone unturned in unmasking the suspects behind the dastardly act.”

The statement also noted that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Orutugu, has personally reached out to the bereaved family and the residents of Nimo to offer his condolences.

Ikenga added, “The Command has also stepped up efforts to arrest the suspects behind this heinous crime.”
