Tension as female police officer abducted, killed by gunmen in Anambra

A female police officer attached to the Ogidi Division in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State has been found dead after being abducted by unidentified gunmen.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the victim, identified as a Woman Inspector (W/INSPR) who served as a prosecutor in the division, was kidnapped on Thursday, and her lifeless body was discovered the next morning.
A distressing video obtained by the outlet showed the officer’s remains dumped in a bush, sparking outrage and fear among residents.

Ogidi and its environs have recently witnessed a resurgence of violence and killings. On Thursday, September 11, 2025, gunmen suspected to be cultists attacked a burial ceremony in Ezi Village, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, killing four people and injuring about 15 others.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants, believed to belong to a rival cult group, rode in on motorcycles and opened fire while the bereaved family was conducting burial rites. The mourners reportedly fled in panic as the gunmen fired indiscriminately before escaping the scene.
