APC support groups in Ondo reject State directive, back Tinubu ahead of 2027

Support groups aligned with Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have jointly rejected a directive issued by the party’s state executive, warning that it could disrupt their mobilisation efforts.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by their Convener, Hon. ‘Demola Ijabiyi, the groups expressed concern that the directive may create unnecessary administrative bottlenecks capable of hindering their grassroots activities.
Despite their reservations, the groups reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to party unity and their determination to deliver a landslide victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

JOINT STATEMENT OF APC SUPPORT GROUPS IN ONDO STATE ON PARTY UNITY AND THE RE-ELECTION OF PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR
We, the coalition of APC support groups in Ondo State, speak with one voice and unbreakable resolve that our sole mission is the landslide re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and every APC flagbearer in 2027.
We acknowledge the directive of our party’s Publicity Secretary in Ondo State asking all support groups to register with the state chapter for profiling and coordination. While we welcome every genuine step toward cohesion, we hereby plainly and collectively state the position of support groups across the State.
We state that we are legitimate by law and by labour. Every group in this coalition is duly registered and certified by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, fully compliant with the party constitution. While our mandate flows from the national headquarters, our strength flows from the streets, wards, and markets of Ondo State where we mobilise daily.
We state that our diversity is our electoral dominance. No single register can contain the reach of all the autonomous groups, including those outside the purview of our State Executive Committee. From riverine towns to city centres, we speak the language of the people, understand their needs, and deliver their votes. Narrowing this ecosystem dulls our sharpest weapon. Expanding it guarantees victory.
We state that partnership wins elections, not paperwork. We stand ready to synchronise strategy with the state chapter and with the leader of our party in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. True coordination means joint planning, shared intelligence, and logistical backing — not administrative roadblocks. Our soldiers are in the field; let us keep them there.

Synchronisation begins with consultation not with command. The State Executive Committee should approach it through consultation with the leaders of support groups who are not unknown in the state. A directive that suggests humiliation or affront, and raises suspicion in the prevailing climate of mutual distrust, should not have been contemplated in the first instance.
The freedom to associate is loyalty to the party. The APC constitution protects our right to organise for the party’s success. We will exercise that right fully, lawfully, and relentlessly. Our allegiance is to the broom, to the President, and to the Nigerians banking on Renewed Hope.
2027 demands action, not administration. Every hour spent chasing forms is an hour lost winning voters. The arithmetic is brutal and simple: more groups mean more doors knocked, more minds won, more margins secured. The only directive that serves APC is the one that says “go to work — we’ve got your back.”
Having thus stated our position, we call on all levels of party leadership to declare this a season of total mobilisation. The State Executive Committee should widen the space, allow every group carrying the APC flag for Mr. President to breathe and turn coordination into firepower. History will not count how many groups were documented; it will count how many votes were delivered.
In this decisive election cycle, there is only one assignment, which is the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Every formal structure of our party, from ward to state executives, should convert itself into a campaign engine and hit the field, just like we, the independent support groups, have been doing. The State Executive Committee must not use bureaucracy to create a bottleneck. Neither should it overreach itself. With many groups and one purpose, Ondo State will be delivered for President Tinubu — decisively, overwhelmingly, unmistakably, and together.
