A member of the Edo State Security Corps, Yusuf Kazim, has made a daring escape from kidnappers, successfully regaining his freedom alongside two other victims.

According to a source who spoke on Friday, Kazim, who operates within the Edo North Senatorial District, was ambushed by suspected kidnappers while driving into his residence in Aya-Iyamo, located in Etsako West Local Government Area.
The source added, “the gunmen abducted him at gunpoint and whisked him into a nearby forest.
“While in captivity, he met two other abductees, Caleb Yusuf, 25, and Himach Suleiman, who had been held after their families failed to meet ransom demands.

“In a turn of event, Kazim was said to have engaged the kidnappers in a struggle and disarmed them of an AK-47 rifle. The assailants fled the scene, abandoning their weapons.
“The ESSC operative, who reportedly sustained severe injuries during the encounter, however escaped alongside with the two other victims.”
Confirming the incident to newspaper on Friday, the Deputy Corps Commander of the ESSC, Richard Balogun, commended Kazim’s bravery and resilience, adding that “he is in critical condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.”
Balogun prayed for his speedy recovery, noting that the kidnappers inflicted serious injuries on him before fleeing.
He added that the case has been handed over to the police for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
