PSC fixes April 28–30 for computer-based test in ongoing police recruitment

The Police Service Commission has scheduled the next stage of the ongoing police recruitment process, setting April 28 to 30, 2026, for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for shortlisted candidates.
According to the Commission, the examination will follow the completion of the nationwide physical and credential screening exercise, which is expected to wrap up by April 18.
Authorities said the test will be held across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Sokoto State Police Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufa’i, described the Computer-Based Test as a crucial stage in the recruitment process.
He noted that candidates who successfully scaled through the earlier screening phase must participate in the test as part of the selection procedure.
“The Computer-Based Aptitude Test is a critical phase designed to ensure that only suitably qualified candidates are recruited into the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
Rufa’i explained that the duration of the test in each state would depend on the number of candidates and the availability of functional CBT centres, noting that some states may complete the exercise in one day, while others could require the full three-day window.

“The scheduling is flexible to accommodate operational realities across states, but every eligible candidate will be given a fair opportunity to participate,” he added.
He urged applicants to remain calm and await further details on venue allocation and the official list of successful candidates.
“Candidates are advised to remain patient and rely only on information from official channels. Details of venues and shortlisted candidates will be communicated in due course,” Rufa’i stated.
The police also warned against misinformation, stressing that all updates regarding the exercise would be released through verified platforms.
The ongoing recruitment exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the manpower and operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
For enquiries, the command provided a dedicated contact line for public engagement.
