Former Ondo gov dumps PDP

Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mimiko made the announcement in a letter addressed to the party chairman of Ward 7, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The correspondence, which was obtained by PUNCH Online on Thursday, marks a significant political development in the state.
The former governor, who served between 2009 and 2016, said his resignation took effect from April 10, 2026.
“I am tendering my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,” he said.

He said the decision was taken without animosity towards anyone.
Mimiko has largely stayed away from active partisan politics in recent years.
