The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected cultists and the recovery of firearms during a targeted raid on an alleged cult gathering in the Elemoro area of Lagos State.

The development was announced in a statement released on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin. According to the statement, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence received by the police.

Recovered during the raid were locally-made firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons believed to be used for criminal activities.

He said the suspects—Christopher Anah, 28; Bada Olosesi, 38; and Magaji Yosuf, 34—were apprehended during what was believed to be a cult meeting held on April 26, 2025.

“The operatives, while on routine patrol, got wind of an unlawful gathering of about fifteen individuals suspected to be cultists and acted swiftly, closing in on the group and successfully arresting three suspects, while others fled the scene,” the statement read.

According to Hundeyin, a search of the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms.

“A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms: a defaced Beretta pistol and a locally made pistol loaded with one unexpended cartridge. These weapons were seized, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects, as investigation continues,” he said.
