President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji in Niger State, vowing that those behind the killings will be brought to justice.

The President issued the directive on Sunday, instructing the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to intensify security operations aimed at locating the attackers.

According to the directive, security agencies are also to urgently rescue all victims abducted during the attack, as the federal government steps up efforts to restore peace and security in the affected communities.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, signed the statement on January 4, 2026.

The Kasuwan Daji incident, which occurred amid a surge in terrorist activities in Niger State, resulted in the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children. President Tinubu’s statement noted that the assailants were suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara following a U.S. air strike on Christmas Eve.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President said.

“They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice.”

President Tinubu also condemned the attack and extended his condolences to the victims’ families, as well as to the government and people of Niger State.

He assured that security agencies have been mandated to strengthen operations around vulnerable communities, especially those near forested areas often used as hideouts by criminal elements.

He appealed to Nigerians to remain united and resolute, warning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security and cohesion.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” President Tinubu said.
