Gunmen abduct senior legal officer in Kwara

Barrister Elizabeth Arinde, Head of the Legal Department at Oke Ero Local Government Area in Kwara State, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin Branch confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Chairman, S.M.H. Kosemani Esq. According to the NBA, Barrister Arinde was kidnapped on Friday, April 25, 2025, while travelling from Oke Ero to Ilorin alongside the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Local Government.
“We are deeply concerned to inform you that Barrister Elizabeth Arinde, Head of the Legal Department at Oke Ero Local Government in Kwara State, has been kidnapped,” the statement read.
The association also reported that attempts to reach her by phone had been unsuccessful, and there was still no information regarding her location.
“Her contact number is no more going and there is no information about her whereabouts yet,” the NBA stated.

The NBA assured the public that it would continue to provide updates as new details emerge.
“We will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” they added.
Additionally, the association appealed to the public to help disseminate information about her abduction and to pray for her safe return.
“Please share this information widely to aid in her rescue and pray for her release alive,” it urged.
The NBA’s Ilorin Branch further called on security agencies to step up efforts to ensure Barrister Arinde’s safe rescue.
