Tinubu postpones South Africa, Angola visits amid security crises in Kebbi, Kwara

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended his planned visits to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, following the recent security crises that have gripped parts of Nigeria.
The decision comes in the wake of national outrage and deep concern over two tragic incidents: the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the deadly attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to a statement by his aide, Dada Olusegun, the President has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti LGA. He also directed the police to track down the bandits responsible for the church attack.
Tinubu was originally scheduled to leave Abuja for the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa and then proceed to Angola for the 7th AU–EU Summit. However, the recent security breaches led to the suspension of his departure.

The President is awaiting updates from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as reports from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services regarding the attack in Kwara.
He reaffirmed his directive to security agencies to prioritise the rescue of the 24 abducted schoolgirls and ensure their safe return.
