Fear and confusion engulfed Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State after unknown assailants murdered two women and set their home on fire.

The victims, Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu, were both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini.

According to family members and local officials, the attackers first stabbed one of the women before setting the house ablaze. The second wife was later found dead in the bathroom, deepening the shock and distress within the community.

A stepson, Anas Shu’aibu, told journalists that the incident unfolded around midday when the husband and his children were away at work.

“We didn’t know anything had happened until my father called me at night asking me to return home. We found one of the bodies burnt, while the other was locked in the bathroom. When we forced the door open, she was already dead,” he said.

Shu’aibu explained that the family initially suspected the blaze was accidental, only to later realise the deaths had occurred during a targeted attack.

The grieving husband, Alhaji Ashiru, called on security agencies to track down those behind the killings.

“They killed my wives and then set one of the bodies on fire. I still don’t know why this wicked act was carried out,” he said.

Kano State police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the tragic incident and noted that an investigation is already in progress.
