Security agents nab suspected vote-buyer with N26m cash in Kaduna

Security operatives in Kaduna have intercepted a major vote-buying attempt ahead of today’s bye-elections, recovering nearly ₦26 million in cash.
According to reports, a joint team of the Kaduna State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies arrested one Shehu Aliyu Patangi around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was apprehended at a well-known hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis, where he was allegedly preparing to distribute the money to influence voters.
Police authorities revealed that the recovered sum a staggering ₦25,963,000 was intended to sway the outcome of the polls. During preliminary interrogation, Patangi is said to have confessed to the plan and pleaded for leniency.

Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad praised the collaboration between security agencies, describing the arrest as “a significant step in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.”
He cautioned that no individual, regardless of status, would be spared if found undermining the elections.“The Command remains resolute in its duty to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election,” Muhammad stated, urging Kaduna residents to vote without fear or intimidation.
The police command also assured voters of adequate security before, during, and after the exercise.
