The Ogun State Government has unveiled the appointment of 1,200 political assistants, tasked with serving as change agents and strengthening civic engagement across the state.

In a statement released in Abeokuta, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said the move reflects the administration’s commitment to deepening democratic participation and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach all corners of the state.

According to Akinmade, the newly appointed aides will play a key role in bridging the gap between government and citizens, fostering stronger connections at the grassroots, and enhancing service delivery in every community.

“The assistants five from each of the 236 wards in Ogun State will ensure greater local participation in governance, effectively bridging the gap between the grassroots and the state government” he said

“The newly appointed political assistants are to support the delivery of democratic dividends, articulate the needs of their respective wards, and communicate these needs to the state government.

“They are also expected to provide accurate feedback from the government to the wards and vice versa”.

The Special Adviser emphasized that this initiative fulfills Governor Abiodun’s electoral promise to carry every ward along in his administration’s development programs and to run an all-inclusive government that values the people’s inputs in shaping policies and initiatives.

The Ogun State Government urged the new appointees to contribute significantly to the growth and development of their wards, local governments, and the state at large.
