4 feared dead in Plateau canoe mishap

A tragic canoe accident has left four people feared dead in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred on September 10 at about 4 p.m., when a canoe being paddled by 35-year-old Nankpak Danladi capsized while ferrying four passengers across the Fajul River on their way to Wase.
According to eyewitnesses, the canoe suddenly overturned mid-river, plunging all occupants into the water. Despite swift rescue efforts from locals, four passengers could not be saved.

“The canoe capsized, and all four passengers, whose identities are yet to be known, drowned in the river,” a source tols security analyst Zagazola Makama.
“On receipt of the report, security forces from Langtang South, mobilised local divers to the scene for a thorough search. No corpse has been recovered yet, but the search is still ongoing.”
