Nigerian Army foils planned attack in Plateau, arrests armed suspect

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, under Operation Enduring Peace, have successfully prevented a planned attack on communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, soldiers swiftly responded to a distress call on September 4, around 1:40 p.m., leading to the arrest of a suspect in Kaskra, Ropp District.
The suspect, 20-year-old Umar Yakubu, was reportedly armed with an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition at the time of his capture.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Yakubu had been mobilised from the Kuka Bakwi Fulani Camp in Barkin Ladi, where he was allegedly tasked with launching coordinated attacks on residents of Nding village.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while ongoing operations aim to track down other militia members and recover additional weapons.
