Veteran journalist and media icon Moji Danisa has expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Chapter, for honoring her during the 2025 Press Week Public Lecture.

In a heartfelt message, she described the award as one that holds a “special place” in her heart—especially because it came from her own professional family.

Danisa, who has spent decades in journalism, recounted how her journey began in her teenage years as Publicity Secretary of the NUJ BTV Chapel (now EBS) in Benin City. From those humble beginnings to her current role as a leading voice in Nigerian media, she credited the profession for shaping her identity and values.

“This recognition is truly priceless,” she wrote. “To be acknowledged by colleagues who understand the journey, the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, and the unyielding commitment it takes to uphold the tenets of journalism—it means the world to me.”

She expressed gratitude to Grace Ike, the dynamic NUJ FCT Chairman, and the entire executive team for deeming her worthy of the honour. Danisa also offered thanks to God, whom she referred to as El Roi, “the God who sees all,” for giving her the strength and opportunity to witness this moment.

“I am proud to be a journalist,” she concluded, reaffirming her commitment to the profession and saluting her peers for their resilience in the face of challenges.

The 2025 NUJ FCT Press Week has been widely praised as a successful and inspiring celebration of journalism, freedom of expression, and national development. Moji Danisa’s recognition stands as a testament to her enduring impact and unwavering dedication to the media landscape in Nigeria.
