Kebbi: Man found dead at market entrance after alleged dispute with friend

Residents of Gotar Aliero, near the Oando area in Birnin Kebbi, were met with shock and sorrow on Monday morning as they discovered the lifeless body of a man lying in a pool of blood at the entrance of the central market.
The Kebbi State Police Command has identified the deceased as 35-year-old Auwal Umar, a native of Katami village in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar, preliminary investigations suggest that Umar may have been murdered by a close friend following a heated argument earlier in the day.
The suspect, 30-year-old Bello Amakwa from Birnin Kebbi, was said to have engaged Umar in a heated argument at Kara Market. Later that night, police reports suggest, Amakwa returned with a knife and fatally attacked Umar while he was asleep.

Amakwa has been arrested and is currently in police custody. He reportedly confessed to committing the murder during interrogation.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, warned young people against taking the law into their own hands. He assured the public that justice would be served, emphasizing that such acts will not be tolerated in the state.
