FCT’s first female Head of Service, Grace Adayilo, passes away

Grace Adayilo, the first female and indigenous Head of Service (HoS) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has died.
A reliable source within the FCT Administration (FCTA) confirmed that she passed away suddenly in the early hours of Monday. However, as of the time of this report, neither her family nor the FCTA has released an official statement regarding her death.
Adayilo’s last official assignment was on Thursday, where she represented the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, at the G7 security meeting in Abuja. Her passing has come as a shock to colleagues and associates who only recently saw her carrying out official duties.

President Bola Tinubu had approved her appointment in October 2023, making her the first female and indigenous person to hold the position of FCT Head of Service—a milestone that was widely celebrated at the time.
Adayilo’s appointment marked a significant milestone in the FCT’s history, breaking the gender and geographical barriers.
