Bandits abduct naval officer, family in Kaduna

Tension has enveloped Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State following the abduction of a naval officer and his family by suspected bandits in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when gunmen stormed Unguwan Mission, Kachia, and launched an attack on the community. During the invasion, the assailants reportedly abducted Seaman Olatunji Enoch, a 40-year-old officer attached to NNSAT Kachia, along with members of his household.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the development, noting that the abduction underscores the worsening insecurity in parts of Kaduna, where bandits have repeatedly targeted both civilians and security personnel.

The assailants also took away his wife, Margaret Olatunji and their daughter, Hellen Bitrus, during the attack.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with cordon-and-search operations ongoing in surrounding bushes. The operation aims to ensure the safe rescue of the victims without harm.
