Tragedy struck in Fulameri community, Yobe State, as a 40-year-old man, Yau Ari Dawa, was arrested by police after allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death during a late-night confrontation sparked by suspicions of infidelity.

According to a report by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. Dawa reportedly accused 35-year-old Mallam Faji Gana of having an affair with his 25-year-old wife, Noja Yau.

What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated into violence, culminating in Dawa fatally stabbing Gana. Local sources say tensions between the two men had been simmering for some time over the alleged affair, but no one expected the situation to turn deadly.

“The confrontation quickly turned violent,” the sources revealed, adding that Dawa allegedly stabbed Gana in the abdomen with a knife during the scuffle.

A nearby resident alerted authorities early Thursday morning after the altercation.

Gana was taken to the Specialist Hospital in Geidam, where he was confirmed dead upon arrival by medical staff.

Following the incident, officers from the Yobe State Police Command apprehended Dawa.

Police sources stated that the matter will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible legal action.
