Tragedy struck Iyamon Village in Illushi, Ubiaja, Edo State, following the death of a 14-year-old boy, Okonkwo Emmanuel, who reportedly sustained fatal injuries during a suspected ritual aimed at granting him immunity from harm.

According to reports shared by security analyst Zagozola Makama, the incident was brought to light by the victim’s elder brother, Okonkwo Onyenbushi, on April 2, 2025.

The ritual was allegedly performed by a self-proclaimed native doctor and an accomplice, who claimed they were conducting a spiritual exercise to make the boy invulnerable to injuries caused by glass bottles.

During the process, one of the suspects reportedly struck Emmanuel on the head with a bottle to “test” the charm’s effectiveness. The blow resulted in a severe head injury that ultimately proved fatal.

The teenager was initially taken to Wisdom Hospital for emergency treatment and later transferred to Ogbeide Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on April 5, 2025. His remains have been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.

Authorities have arrested the two suspects involved in the incident and confirmed that a full investigation is underway.
