Police arrest 29-year-old man for alleged murder of 5-year-old in Adamawa

Tragedy struck in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as police operatives arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, over the alleged killing of a five-year-old boy.
The arrest was confirmed on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje. According to him, the police received a distress report on August 30 from Hadiza Bashiru, the mother of the victim, stating that her son, Abba, had gone missing after he was last seen in the company of Hassan.
Acting swiftly on the report, detectives tracked down the suspect, who was later apprehended. Preliminary investigations point to Hassan’s alleged involvement in the boy’s disappearance and tragic death.
According to him, officers led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno immediately launched an operation that led to Hassan’s arrest.

“During interrogation, Hassan confessed to conspiring with another suspect, still at large, to kill the child and bury him in a shallow grave,” Nguroje said.
He added that the body of the victim was exhumed and taken to hospital for autopsy.
Nguroje also stated that Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had directed the State CID to take over the investigation and track down the fleeing accomplice.
He assured the public of the command’s determination to deliver justice and urged continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the state.
