Lagos declares work-free day to celebrate Isese Day

The Lagos State Government has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, a work-free day for all public servants in celebration of this year’s Isese Day.
The announcement was contained in a circular signed by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, who confirmed that the decision was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of the administration’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture and supporting traditional institutions.
According to the circular, public servants are expected to resume work on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Isese, a Yoruba word meaning tradition, is marked annually to honour and preserve the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Yoruba people. The celebration provides an opportunity for reflection, cultural expression, and the promotion of traditional values.
