EFCC storm Obasanjo’s hotel, arrests suspected Yahoo boys

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday stormed the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several young men suspected of involvement in internet fraud.
According to Punch, the operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning while a pool party was underway at the hotel. Eyewitnesses reported that EFCC officials arrived unexpectedly, disrupting the event and taking several suspects into custody.
This latest crackdown comes just days after EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate raided K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, where 55 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested. That earlier operation also led to the recovery of two locally manufactured pistols from one of the suspects.
A video clip from Sunday’s raid, which circulated on social media, captured chaotic scenes as attendees fled while the sound of gunfire rang out.
The operatives were said to have taken several suspects into custody and confiscated “more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items.

Sources indicated that the operation was executed by EFCC personnel from the Lagos Directorate.
An X user, A.Ayomide, recounted, “Literally left my house past midnight to go to OOPL, got there and the crowd was too much. I don’t like the settings, my guy doesn’t like the settings, so we were just at the car park.
“Left around 1:30, 20 minutes later I get home and I’m getting calls that EFCC is raiding OOPL.”
The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the development but withheld details.“Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know,” he told our correspondent.
When reached for comment, the Lagos Zonal Command’s spokesperson, Ayo Oyewole, said he was not aware of the operation but promised to follow up. EFCC’s national spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, also pledged to verify the incident and provide feedback.
