Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his younger brother André Silva were laid to rest on Saturday in a deeply emotional ceremony, just two days after their tragic deaths in a car crash in Spain.

The funeral service took place at the Igreja Matriz Church in Gondomar, Portugal, a town where Jota had a residence. Mourners gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects to the beloved footballer and his sibling, including family, friends, teammates, and football dignitaries.

Players and staff from Liverpool Football Club were present, standing in solidarity with Jota’s grieving family. The Portugal national team manager, Roberto Martinez, attended alongside prominent Portuguese internationals, including Bernardo Silva and Rúben Dias of Manchester City, and Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United.

In a poignant moment, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk arrived carrying a red floral tribute in the shape of a football shirt bearing Jota’s No. 20, while Andrew Robertson followed with a matching arrangement displaying the No. 30—worn by André Silva during his time with Portuguese club Penafiel.
