Breaking…FG orders immediate closure of 41 unity schools

The Federal Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of 41 Federal Government Colleges (unity schools) across northern Nigeria due to escalating security threats in the region.

The directive was issued in a circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, on Friday. According to the document, the decision became necessary following a series of violent attacks, kidnappings, and targeted assaults on educational institutions in recent weeks.

The circular addressed to principals of the affected schools read:

“CLOSURE OF FORTY-ONE (41) FEDERAL UNITY COLLEGES

“Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country
and the need to prevent any security breaches, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of the listed Federal Unity Colleges (FUCS) with immediate effect.

“Principals of affected Colleges are to ensure strict compliance..”
