Falconets begin final preparations in Ibadan ahead of Rwanda clash

Nigeria’s Falconets, two-time FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup silver medallists, have kicked off their final preparations in Ibadan ahead of their crucial second leg encounter against Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in the second round of the 2026 qualifiers.
The team touched down in Ibadan on Monday and received a warm welcome from the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, who pledged the government’s full support. She also encouraged the players to remain focused and prayed for their victory in the must-win fixture.

Falconets’ captain, Joy Igbokwe, expressed gratitude to the state government on behalf of her teammates, vowing that the squad is fully prepared to deliver a strong performance and make Nigeria proud.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Gambian referee Ngum Fatou to officiate Saturday’s match. She will be assisted by compatriots Jainaba Manneh and Abbie Ceesay, with Isatou Touray serving as fourth official.
