Adamawa Gov imposes 24-hour curfew on Lamurde LGA over rising violence

In a decisive move to restore peace and order, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area, following a wave of violent unrest that recently rocked the community.
The announcement was made in Yola through a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, who confirmed that the curfew takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, the curfew aims to prevent further escalation of violence and protect lives and property in the troubled area. Residents are advised to remain indoors, as security personnel have been deployed to enforce the directive.
“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly. The curfew is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice,” he said.

The state government emphasized that the measure is aimed at curbing unrest and restoring stability. Wonosikou issued a stern warning that violators of the curfew would face the full weight of the law.
“Residents are urged to abide by the curfew and provide useful information to security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence. Government will not condone acts of violence and will take necessary measures to restore peace and order,” he added.
Wonosikou also urged locals to refrain from spreading false information and work closely with law enforcement to bring the situation under control.
According to him, the administration remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
