Adamawa Governor rewards Super Falcons coach with N50m, house

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has honoured Super Falcons assistant coach, Justin Madugu, with a three-bedroom bungalow and a cash prize of ₦50 million in recognition of his role in Nigeria’s historic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The reward was presented during Madugu’s courtesy visit to the Government House in Yola, as revealed in a Facebook post by the governor’s media aide, Pius Iliya.
Coach Madugu, an indigene of Adamawa State, received accolades from Governor Fintiri for his outstanding contribution to the Super Falcons’ triumph in Morocco, where the team clinched their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, has gifted Justine Pwanidi Madugu (Coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons) a three-bedroom bungalow and a sum of N50m for leading the team into winning the 2024 Women African Cup of Nation that took place in Morocco this year,” the statement read.

The reward comes just weeks after the Super Falcons lifted their 10th WAFCON title, further cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
Earlier, the Falcons were hosted in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu, where each player received $100,000, while members of the technical crew, including Madugu, were awarded $50,000, three-bedroom apartments, and national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger.
Nigeria secured the title in thrilling fashion, overturning a two-goal deficit to defeat Morocco 3-2 in the final, courtesy of second-half strikes from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini. The team finished the tournament unbeaten, scoring 10 goals and conceding only three.
