IGP extends tinted glass permit enforcement deadline to August 12, 2025

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025.
This decision follows widespread public feedback and concerns regarding the recent reactivation of the digital application process. In a statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP emphasized the Force’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, noting that public input has played a crucial role in guiding ongoing reforms.
According to the police, the extension is aimed at allowing sufficient time for further improvements to be made to the application process—ensuring that it becomes more user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all Nigerians. Enhancements will include better verification mechanisms, simplified procedures, and both physical and contactless application options to reduce delays and prevent unnecessary inconvenience.

Citizens seeking to apply or renew their Tinted Glass Permit are reminded to use the official platform: www.possap.gov.ng. Additionally, the public is encouraged to report any cases of unauthorized charges or extortion encountered during the process. Reports can be made via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, digital innovation, and improved service delivery, and thanked Nigerians for their continued cooperation and patience as reforms unfold.
