Premier League to introduce semi-automated offside technology from April 12

The English Premier League has confirmed that it will implement semi-automated offside technology starting from April 12, marking a significant step towards enhancing officiating accuracy in the league.
Originally approved by FIFA, the technology was first used at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Since then, it has been successfully adopted by top competitions, including the Spanish LaLiga, Italian Serie A, and the UEFA Champions League.

The system is designed to assist referees in making precise offside calls by automating key aspects of the decision-making process. By reducing the time required to confirm offside rulings, the technology aims to improve the flow of matches while minimising human error.
