Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that his team will honour Premier League champions Liverpool with a guard of honour when both sides clash on Sunday.

Maresca praised Liverpool’s title-winning campaign and emphasized the importance of upholding the tradition of acknowledging champions.

He noted that the gesture is not only a sign of respect but also a valuable moment for his players to reflect on what it means to reach the pinnacle of English football.

“Liverpool’s achievement deserves recognition,” Maresca said. “This is a tradition in football that should be respected, and it’s a moment for our players to understand what success looks like.”

Chelsea had been strong contenders for the title for much of the season, pushing Liverpool closely. However, their campaign was derailed by crucial defeats to Fulham and Ipswich during the Christmas period, which ultimately cost them their place in the title race.

Looking ahead, Maresca shared his aspirations of guiding Chelsea to future glory. “Our goal remains to win the Premier League. We’ve made progress, and I believe we’re heading in the right direction.”

The upcoming match promises not only high-quality football but also a show of sportsmanship as Chelsea honours the newly crowned champions.
