Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £48.5 million, with an additional £3.5 million in performance-related add-ons.

The 20-year-old England Under-21 international has signed a seven-year contract with the London club, becoming the latest addition to Chelsea’s growing pool of young talent under their long-term project.

Gittens, who began his career at Manchester City before making the switch to Dortmund in 2020, impressed during his time in the Bundesliga, registering 17 goals and 14 assists in 107 appearances for the German side.

Due to registration rules surrounding the Club World Cup, Gittens will not be eligible to feature for Chelsea until after the tournament. Nevertheless, he expressed his delight at joining the Blues.

“It’s an amazing feeling to join a club like Chelsea,” Gittens said. “I’m excited for what lies ahead and can’t wait to get started.”

Chelsea see Gittens as a high-potential wide attacker who can thrive in the Premier League, and his arrival further reflects the club’s emphasis on building a youthful, dynamic squad for the future.
