Niger Delta sports festival set for grand debut in Uyo

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival has assured that extensive preparations have been made to deliver a seamless and well-organised event, scheduled to take place from April 1st to 8th in Uyo.
Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Mr. Harry Iwuala, highlighted that the LOC consists of experienced sports administrators and former international athletes whose expertise will be crucial in ensuring the festival’s success.
Ahead of Wednesday’s grand opening ceremony, Mr. Iwuala confirmed that robust security measures have been implemented across all venues to guarantee the safety of athletes, officials, and spectators.

The festival is set to welcome approximately 3,000 athletes, alongside 800 coaches and technical officials, who will compete in 17 sporting events, making it a landmark occasion for sports development in the Niger Delta region.
The competition will be officially inaugurated at the Uyo Township Stadium by President Bola Tinubu, who will be represented by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko.
