12 dead, 5 injured in Kano trailer crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that twelve people died while five others sustained injuries in a lone trailer accident in Kano State.
According to FRSC Sector Commander Muhammed Bature, the fatal crash occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday at Samawa Village, Garun Malam Local Government Area, along the Zaria–Kano highway.
Bature said in a statement that the incident involved a DAF CF95 trailer, registration number KMC 931 ZE, which was loaded with goods. A total of 19 people were involved, with 12 confirmed dead, five sustaining various injuries, and two escaping unharmed.

He explained that the trailer lost control and crashed after its cab detached from the body due to a mechanical failure in the cab hook.
“The deceased victims were evacuated and deposited at Nasarawa Hospital, while the injured were taken to Kura General Hospital for medical attention,” he said.
The sector commander warned motorists against speeding, reckless driving, and other unsafe practices that put lives and property at risk.
