EFCC arrests 47 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo, recovers firearm

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 47 suspects in Edo State over alleged involvement in internet fraud.
In a statement on Friday, the anti-graft agency revealed that operatives from its Benin Zonal Directorate carried out the operation, recovering a pump-action rifle and live cartridges from one of the suspects.
“Their arrest on Friday, August 15, 2025 followed credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Other items recovered from them include, six vehicles, mobile phones and laptop computers.
“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement said.
