Promising young defender Benjamin Fredrick has joined the Super Eagles camp in Polokwane, South Africa, ahead of Nigeria’s Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
The arrival of Fredrick was confirmed by the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, bringing the squad count to 18 players as preparations intensify for the upcoming double-header.
The Super Eagles kicked off their preparations with their first training session on Tuesday, focusing on tactical drills and match readiness ahead of Friday’s clash against Lesotho.

With just two games remaining in the qualifiers, Nigeria currently occupy third place in Group C with 11 points, trailing Benin Republic and South Africa, who sit first and second respectively.
Coach and players are aware that these final matches are critical, with the team aiming to secure maximum points to improve their standing and keep World Cup qualification hopes alive.
