Super Eagles to earn $50,000 per goal in crucial World Cup qualifier against DR Congo

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been handed a massive motivation boost ahead of tonight’s make-or-break 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a promise of $50,000 for every goal scored.
This new incentive marks a significant increase from last Thursday’s qualifier against Gabon, where the team earned $120,000—calculated at $30,000 per goal—after their impressive 4–1 victory over the Panthers.

The reward package is being championed by the National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with several private-sector partners who prefer to remain unnamed. According to officials, the initiative aims to further boost player morale and spur the team to secure a vital win.
