Residents of Ijalu area in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, have been thrown into fear and uncertainty following the abduction of a woman and her toddler by suspected terrorists.
The attack occurred on Wednesday evening when armed assailants reportedly invaded the community and carried out a raid along the Solid Rock School axis.
The victims were identified as Mrs. Idowu Kemi Titilayo and her young child, who were allegedly seized by the gunmen during the operation and taken to an unknown destination.
Community sources told this newspaper that the terrorists stormed the area at about dusk, firing sporadically and causing residents to flee for safety.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance before whisking away the victims.
“The terrorists came suddenly and everybody started running. They were heavily armed and people could not confront them. They abducted Mrs. Kemi and her little child and disappeared into the surrounding area before help could come,” the source said.
The community source expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the area, noting that residents now live in constant fear of attacks.
“This incident has created serious tension in the community. People are afraid because these attacks are becoming too frequent. We are appealing to security agencies to act quickly and rescue the woman and her child,” the source said.
