Michael Ejueyitsi Tidi was born on 15 September 1980 to Joshua Oritsetimeyin Tidi and Princess Roli Lizzy Emiko.
He comes from a rich cultural heritage, blending Itsekiri ancestry from Okere, Ode-Itsekiri, and Omadino with Urhobo roots from Ukpokiti and Igbudu of Agbarah, all within Delta State’s Warri South Local Government Area.
Tidi began his education at Ikengbuwa Primary School, Warri, then attended Yonwuren College for junior secondary education and Brisco Commercial College for senior secondary studies.
Driven by a strong interest in economics and regional development, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Port Harcourt, followed by a master’s degree in economics from Delta State University.
He later completed a Ph.D. in energy studies, specializing in oil and gas economics, at the Centre for Petroleum, Energy, Economics and Law (CPEEL), University of Ibadan.

Early career
After completing the National Youth Service Corps in 2006, Tidi joined the political campaign “Project Deliver Uduaghan,” supporting Emmanuel Uduaghan’s successful bid for governor of Delta State.
In 2009, he became a pioneer senior staff member of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), gaining valuable experience in regional development before resigning to pursue electoral office.
In July 2015, Tidi was appointed Special Assistant (News Media) to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, where he worked to improve communication and public engagement for the state government.
Political leadership
In September 2017, Tidi contested for and won the chairmanship of Warri South Local Government Area on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), becoming the 15th chairman of the council.

During his tenure, he focused on improving local governance, implementing development initiatives, and enhancing the welfare of his constituents.
Defection to APC
In a notable political shift, Dr. Michael Tidi recently left the PDP to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
