Kebbi govt holds Interfaith prayer for peace amid security challenges

The Kebbi State Government recently organized an interfaith prayer session in Birnin Kebbi, uniting Muslim and Christian faithful from across the state to pray for divine intervention over the escalating security challenges in Kebbi and Nigeria as a whole.
During the event, Governor Nasir Idris highlighted the significance of sustained prayers in fostering peace, unity, and harmony among the people. He urged citizens to remain hopeful and work together to support efforts aimed at restoring security and stability.
“It is unrealistic to expect any state to be completely free from security concerns. Security should be treated as a collective responsibility, not a political tool.
“Claims suggesting that Kebbi or Nigeria lacks peace, or that there is tension between Muslims and Christians, are baseless. We stand united today, Muslims and Christians alike, seeking divine assistance to overcome our security challenges,” he said.
The governor thanked religious leaders and participants for their attendance and urged them to keep praying for the continued development and prosperity of the state.

The prayer session, organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, focused on seeking divine help against banditry, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity confronting the state and the nation.
Prominent personalities at the event included the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari; and the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.
The Chairman of the State Council of Ulamas, Sheikh Abubakar Riba, and the Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Femi Orofin, led the joint prayers for peace and stability.
The session also featured Quranic recitations and special supplications by Islamic scholars, seeking national unity, improved security, and divine wisdom for Nigeria’s leaders.
