Tinubu meets Sultan of Sokoto in Aso Rock

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday hosted the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for a private meeting.
The Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), held a closed-door discussion with the President during the visit.
Although details of their conversation were not made public, the meeting is believed to have focused on national unity, peace, and issues affecting the country’s socio-religious harmony.
The engagement came just days after President Tinubu met with the Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, in a similar effort aimed at fostering interfaith dialogue and strengthening religious coexistence in the country.

While the details of the conversation were not made public, the meeting is believed to have centered on promoting unity, mutual understanding among faith communities, and advancing national development.
The visit took place shortly after remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had warned of possible action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians.
Following the meeting, the Sultan joined President Tinubu for the Juma’at prayer at the State House Mosque. The Imam, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Abubakar, called on Nigerians to continue supporting the government’s initiatives for peace and security, noting that peace remains essential for both individual progress and the nation’s collective growth.
