Breaking…Senate confirms Joash Amupitan as INEC chairman

The Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The confirmation followed his screening on Thursday, during which Amupitan pledged to uphold the independence and integrity of the electoral body.
In his remarks before the lawmakers, the senior advocate assured Nigerians that under his leadership, INEC would remain transparent, impartial, and accountable in the conduct of elections across the country.

Amupitan’s appointment marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions and restore public confidence in the electoral process.
