Flying Eagles arrive in Chile for crucial U-20 World Cup clash against Argentina

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have touched down in Santiago, Chile, ahead of their highly anticipated FIFA Under-20 World Cup Round of 16 showdown with Argentina on Wednesday.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the team’s arrival in a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, assuring fans that preparations are in full swing for the crucial knockout tie.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s boys advanced to the Round of 16 after finishing third in Group F, following a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Colombia in their final group-stage fixture on Monday.

The team is scheduled to hold a training session later today at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, where they will fine-tune tactics and strategies ahead of their clash with the South American giants.
Interestingly, this fixture rekindles memories of the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where the Flying Eagles stunned the host nation with a 2–0 victory in the same Round of 16 stage — a result that remains one of Nigeria’s most memorable performances in recent youth football history.
