Gunmen abduct APC chairman’s wife, daughter in Kwara

Tension has gripped Sakpefu community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State after gunmen abducted the wife and daughter of Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when heavily armed men invaded the community, firing shots into the air to frighten residents before making away with their victims.
Sources confirmed that the abducted individuals are Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and his daughter, Amina. Their whereabouts remain unknown, and the assailants have yet to establish contact with the family.
“The bandits abducted his wife, Haja Fatima, and his daughter, Amina, and took them to an unknown destination,” a source confirmed on Monday.
The attackers reportedly spent several minutes in the community before escaping with their captives.
Patigi and other parts of Kwara North have faced repeated cases of kidnapping in recent months, prompting renewed calls from locals for stronger security measures.

Just a day earlier, suspected bandits launched another attack on Shagbe community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, invading the palace of the Onishagbe of Shagbe. The assailants killed some residents and abducted others during the raid, which reportedly lasted hours without any intervention from security agencies.
“Bandits in large numbers stormed the community and forced their way into the palace of the Onishagbe of Shagbe, targeting the monarch or members of his household. However, their plans did not succeed,” a source said.
The source added, “They killed some residents, abducted others, and operated for hours without any response from security forces despite repeated distress calls. The Kwara State government has since said it is on top of the situation.”
As of press time, the exact number of casualties and abducted residents in the Shagbe attack remained unclear.
These incidents have heightened fears over worsening insecurity in Kwara, particularly in rural communities where residents often complain of delayed responses from security operatives.
