Gunmen kill security guard, driver in fresh attacks on Kwara community

Residents of Irepodun Local Government Area in Kwara State have been thrown into mourning after gunmen carried out two separate deadly attacks, killing a private security guard and a commercial driver.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, when armed men stormed the Rore–Arandun highway residence of businessman Mr. Oyetoyan Dare. In a brave attempt to stop the intruders, his security guard, Mr. Wale Ajiboye, aged 40, was shot dead on the spot.
Shortly after, the same attackers reportedly ambushed a vehicle transporting farm produce from Ora in neighbouring Osun State. The driver, 38-year-old Mr. Taiye Yebi, who was unaware of the earlier incident, was shot as he drove by. A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Police officers later arrived at the scene, where both spent and live ammunition were recovered. The remains of the two victims have been taken to a hospital morgue.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said investigations were underway and security patrols had been intensified to prevent further attacks.
“She added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, had ordered a discreet probe and assured the public that normalcy had been restored.”
