Niger gov applauds president Tinubu’s reform agenda

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commended the developmental reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a driving force for positive change across the country.
The governor made this remark when he received members of the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on the rehabilitation and operationalization of the Baro Inland Port at the Government House, Minna.
Bago, popularly known as the farmer governor, praised President Tinubu for making resources available to states, a move he said has accelerated growth and development in various sectors of the economy.
He explained that the initiatives are necessary for sustainable growth and improvement of public services
The farmer governor equally applauded the decision of the House of Representatives through the speaker in constituting the adhoc Committee to revitalize Baro port with a view to finally reviving the port which he described as a Nigerian project.
Farmer Umaru Bago also revealed that the revitalization of the Baro Inland port has been a long dream of his administration since his assumption of Office adding that a lot of studies have been carried out on how to revive it.

He also disclosed that the State government is working closely with the Nigeria Railway Corporation to reactivate the locomotive lines from Baro to Minna that will help in reducing the high volume of traffic on roads
He said the road to Baro from Katcha is under construction with the State government already working with the Ministry of Marine and blue economy to see how to conclude the road in earnest.
Farmer governor Bago also advocated the need to work closely with the Lagos State government on how to manage water resources describing the rate of boat mishaps in the State as alarming while also stressing the need to have an Office for the National Inland Waterways Authority in Minna in that regard.
The former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and leader of the delegation, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase said the visit to the governor is to appreciate his immense support.
He said, the Committee which is chaired by the member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha federal constituency, Saidu Musa Abdul is to see for themselves the real situation of the Baro port which he described as a gateway to Nigeria’s economy.
He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in addressing infrastructural deficits in the Country and harped on the need for parliamentarians to compliment his efforts through its oversight functions.
