Katsina Gov to begin 3-week medical leave after road accident

Katsina State Governor, Umaru Radda, will proceed on a three-week medical leave starting Monday, August 18, 2025, following injuries he sustained in a recent road accident.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, who noted that the governor’s health break is necessary for full recovery.
“I want to thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support,” Governor Radda said. “Taking the necessary steps to prioritize my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state. I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I finish my medical check up.”
To maintain smooth governance during his absence, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal, HCIB (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe), will step in as acting governor.

“Governor Radda expressed confidence in the deputy Governor’s ability to lead and manage affairs with the same dedication and commitment,” the statement noted.
The government assured the public that ongoing programs and projects would proceed without disruption. Radda’s “Building Your Future Agenda,” the statement added, remains on track.
Recall that the governor was involved in a minor accident on the Daura-Katsina road about three weeks ago and received treatment for minor injuries.
