PSG claim first-ever UEFA Super Cup after dramatic comeback win over Spurs

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) lifted their first UEFA Super Cup in thrilling style, staging a remarkable comeback to beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties at the Bluenergy Stadium.

Tottenham, managed by new head coach Thomas Frank, appeared on course for victory after Micky van de Ven struck from close range in the 39th minute, followed by Cristian Romero’s powerful header from Pedro Porro’s free-kick early in the second half.

For much of the match, PSG’s frontline—spearheaded by Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia—found it difficult to break through Spurs’ disciplined defensive setup.

The match turned in the final minutes when Lee Kang-in fired in a tight-angle strike in the 80th minute, and Gonçalo Ramos powered home a late header from Dembélé’s cross to make it 2-2. With no extra time in the competition, the game went straight to penalties.

Spurs initially led after PSG’s Vitinha missed, but Lucas Chevalier, standing in for the departed Gianluigi Donnarumma, saved Van de Ven’s spot kick before Mathys Tel missed the target.

Ramos, Dembélé, and Lee Kang-in scored for PSG, and Nuno Mendes buried the winning penalty to seal the historic win.
