Prominent cleric and founder of Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, June 4, at the president’s residence in Lagos.

Sources reveal that the meeting focused on key national issues and the current state of affairs in Nigeria. While details of their conversation remain private, the engagement is seen as part of ongoing consultations aimed at addressing the country’s pressing socio-political and economic challenges.

Pastor Bakare, widely known for his bold and unfiltered views on governance, had earlier in April urged President Tinubu to adopt swift and strategic reforms to stabilize the nation. Speaking during a sermon at his church in Lagos, he called for a “coordinated programme” that would not only restore national stability but also rebuild public trust in government institutions.

A seasoned political figure, Bakare was the running mate to then-presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 general election under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). In 2022, he also joined the race for the presidency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), purchasing the ₦100 million nomination and expression of interest forms.

However, at the APC presidential primaries, Bakare secured no delegate votes, while Bola Tinubu emerged as the party’s flagbearer with an overwhelming 1,217 votes.
